Outdoor Camping Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What equipment do I need?
Answer: The bare minimum requirements are a tent, a sleeping bag, and a change of clothes. Our pack has a few tents you may borrow if you don't have one, but we need to know before a campout as we don't keep them in the Pack’s trailer. Other things you could bring include: flashlight/lantern, folding chair, small cooler with drinks, light snacks, bug spray, sun screen, bicycle (for some venues), football, Frisbee, guitar, harmonica. Electronic devices are discouraged. See the Campout Check List tab to the left for additional information.
Question: What does the Pack provide?
Answer: The Pack provides meals and drinks at meal time as well as s’mores after our nightly campfire program. We set up a common area at the campsite with a fire pit, a grill for cooking, tables to serve food from, as well as plates, cups, napkins, and eating utensils.
Question: How much does it cost?
Answer: Depending on the venue, costs range from free to around $75 per person for larger events (e.g. Cub Haunted Weekend, Cub Adventure Weekend). We generally do only one expensive overnight adventure per year.
Question: Who is invited?
Answer: Each Cub Scout is required to have at least one parent attend overnight events. For most camping experiences, all family members are invited to attend.
Question: How often does the Pack go camping?
Answer: We camp about once per month and we normally do an indoor overnight Adventure in January.
Question: What if I don't want to stay overnight?
Answer: Come join us anyway! You can still enjoy the campfire, supper, campfire songs, s'mores, as well as other activities in the afternoon and evening.
